As BaToCo Barriletes a Toda Costa Asociación Civil reached its First Anniversary, its members celebrated the event a hot Sunday, toasting in the open sky, with the same setting that Costa Escombro has been providing for years.
Under a birthday atmosphere, BaToCo fellows flew their kites -as usual-, while some of them prepared the so-called "La Toldería", i.e., a parasol adorned with balloons and garlands.
There were also hats with our colors, and those wearing them looked like millionaires.
And they were actually so, celebrating a more stable time in the group, with interesting projects for 2007, more friends, more places to fly kites, and sharing more social events in our community.
Some of the members present at the event had their birthdays on that same day or a couple of days before, such as Víctor, our Vice-President, very well escorted by his wife; Gustavo, our Secretary, who would untiringly look for details to improve the organization and events; Silvina, Lucca's mother and Pablo's wife, who with effort took part in the celebration; Raúl, who brought olives (I bet!), and Lucas, whose birthday had been more than fifteen days before.
Among those present, there was somebody who we had not seen in the river for a long time, but who has always been near BaToCo, and to whom we owe what we today know as the "Disorganized Kite Flying": Mr Andrea Della Bianca, who -with Agustina- toasted with us, sharing the intense hotness and a bit of BaToco's history.
There was also José Luis -from Alto Vuelo-, an ever-present partner in BaToCo's history who, thanks to his activity, has enabled us to accede to the materials needed for building our kites.
When we thought that there was nobody missing, Alicia Silman appeared with her characteristic parasol, delighting us with the Italian jokes she recalled, while Cecilia offered us some sandwiches in a big box, and Gustavo remarked that she would shortly take hold of the gastronomical issue in the group.
Roberto Cassanello appeared with two ever-present symbols in every BaToCo celebration, "Nuestra Banderola" and "Nuestra Primera Dama"; under this atmosphere we flew the kite that had been a group task in 2005. Meanwhile, the group is thinking about this year projects, looking forward for another annual celebration.
