" The Space for Arts and Crafts is an initiative from the Oficina General del Casco Histórico (Historical Area General Office), in Buenos Aires City, consisting in an exhibition that is annually performed to learn about old crafts that have once been characteristic in the City. Their visitors can observe not only finished products but also how they are built, maintaining the old techniques in vogue, essential for recovering the cultural patrimony in our City"
We were invited to the ceremony during which we were bestowed a Diploma for our participation in the last event. The place chosen? The Casa de la Cultura (Culture House) facilities, a building that belonged to the centenary La Prensa Newspaper.

On Friday, December 8, at 9:00 in the morning, people from Ezeiza (Buenos Aires) watched amazed a group of "kite fliers" with their bags full of kites and dreams, departing towards the land of the winds and dinosaurs (dead): Comodoro Rivadavia (Chubut).
Yesterday, Saturday, December 9, 2006, we were chatting with Gustavo at the cloister yard, under a huge cypress, when one of the organizers approached with a book and suggested us to express something of what we felt, so as to hand it over to the Franciscans in gratitude for having temporarily bestowed the place to us. We did so, with great pleasure, and attached to those words a small flag of our group.
Then, when we were alone, Gustavo came up with the idea that I could write something for BaToCo’s page, and I started to think about it.

Our dear friend Diana Ross will perform a beautiful personal initiative: a kite exhibition in San Carlos de Bariloche, from March 18 to 21.

We visited this exhibition at the Saavedra Museum in Buenos Aires City.
The "Escuela Argentina del Barrilete", conducted by Alejandro Araujo Santos, has a patrimony of over ninety kites painted by Argentine and foreign artists. Its collection was exhibited in Brazil, Chile, Cuba and Uruguay. In this Gallery you can find some images of those fantastic works.
ALEJANDRO ARAUJO SANTOS
I first met him in 1996, on occasion of the First Air Saloon, organized by the National Academy of Fine Arts, at the docks in Puerto Madero. He had a broad background in the kite world.
With his Argentine Kite School, in Vicente López, Buenos Aires, he made known the activity through art and its expression in those shapes apt for flying. During several years he performed his creative and constructive activity in Mar del Plata, working at schools and workshops with children and adults.
He organized events where art expressed itself in paintings on kites, he gathered artists from different places of the country. I remember one, a bright day in February, 1997, at the beach, in Punta Mogotes, Mar del Plata, where the artists painted their works in the same beach resort. It was a queer opportunity for the people present at the event, to see the whole marvelous creation process of lines and colors that make up a work of art. from beginning to end.
The exhibition we saw at Saavedra Museum is an example of his continuous and enriching work. The paintings talk about those skies and they encourage us, always striving to get out the best of ourselves.

Kites exhibit by famous Argentine graphic artists such as Antoniadis, Benguria, Brizzi, Cabutti, Calmet, Cendon, Compagnucci, Contreras, Delmonte, Demirjian, Franco, Gravinese, Nigro, Ocampo, Puente, Robirosa, Svanascini, Tapía, Testa, and Vidal.
These kites were flown in Thays Park on September 18th and October 5th. This event was held in memory of the engineer Basilio Uribe, a former president of the Fine Arts National Academy and the mentor of the "Air Exposition".
