The Childhood Rights Week took place in Bariloche, with different meetings and workshops carried out from November 24 to 29, 2008.

The event ended with a march, and we couldn’t avoid stating that important childhood right, to play and have fun…

Diana Ross invited me to participate in an experience shared with several of the convening groups, and there I went, to enjoy working altogether, and putting wings to pleasure.

We traveled. With many, lots of children, we built kites, this time in Nueva Galia –San Luis-, La Maruja, Trenel –La Pampa-, Trenque Lauquen, Carlos Casares and Luján –Buenos Aires.

In each corner, a different challenge. In all of them, an overwhelming enthusiasm during the workshop. Inventing designs, trying new structures, running away to fly the models and building another ones. I could hardly match the creative impetus; when they build kites, children would keep demanding materials, ideas, instructions, models, help to cut a silhouette, to stick a drawing, to place the hoisting ropes, to fly outdoors. A tiresome though amusing and captivating challenge…

Miniature Kites – Grand Champion

The American Kiteflier Association (AKA) organizes annually its Convention, where its members share five days with enthusiasts, artists and kite competitors, telling experiences while exchanging know-how about kites, in what it is considered one of the major kitefliers’ meeting in the world.

There are between 300 and 400 members participating in the event. Fortunately, this year the convention could include Luis Claris Skoczdopole’s presence –after Nelson Borelli’s invitation-, so he traveled from our country to the U.S.A. and became part of this event.

The activities developed in this type of meetings are: performance of educational workshops, games, exhibitions, flight demonstrations, massive flights, National Contests of Sportive Kites, competitions among kite builders. These activities are matched with a series of social events, where dinners, meetings, lectures and awards are part of this bond established among kite enthusiasts.

BaToCo considers it a honor that Claris had traveled and participated in several of these activities, standing out his participation in the Miniature Kite Challenge, when participants show their miniature kites to be evaluated based on their flight, beauty, design originality and littleness.

And The Sky Got Painted...

This weekend,BaToCo took part in the Kite Festival “Let’s Paint The Sky In Rosario”, the 8th. edition of an event that became a popular party, with the sky full of kites representing the presence of thousand persons, who were lucky for flying them during two radiantly sunny afternoons, leaving the organizers happy for the job done.

Under a framework of willingness, eager to spend a good time, we could see Ariel with his habitual drive, solving thousands of issues arising during the meeting, which this year was matched by genuine ideas from some expert clown, giving free rein to spread the activity in tune with the public present at Scalabrini Ortiz Park.

BaToCo Barriletes a Toda Costa Asociación Civil wishes to thank the community from Pedro de Elizalde Hospital for allowing us to cooperate –at least for a while- in provoking a colorful smile.

Project Fenix - Los Antiguos

Rural School Home N° 1, from Los Antiguos –Province of Santa Cruz-, caught fire and lost its complete building and books.

Through Project Fenix, it was carried out a supportive action out with the purpose of rearranging its library. Dr. Rubén Sosa led this project by which, thanks to anonymous donations, around 15,000 volumes were gathered and then transported to the above-mentioned town.

Several BaToCo members had the opportunity to cooperate with this action. And I was personally very lucky to travel to Los Antiguos!

Kites, Wind And The Joy Of Flying

The first Kite show organized by BaToCo has finished, and as Alicia Silman would say, “it lasted a couple of hours but made history”, not only for the beauty displayed in the kites exhibited –which are BaToCo’s most appreciated capital in terms of art and expression of hard working hours-, but also for Gustavo Di Si’s drive transmitted to the participants who a couple of months ago followed him during the indoor flight clinics, performed in Parque Chacabuco (Capital Federal), delivered with professionalism and a high standard level. No doubt, he harvested what he has sowed among all his pupils, and their joint practice could be appreciated this Sunday in front of a public that will never forget those kites flying indoors, not only outdoors.

The organizers of the 2007 Wind Party in their fourth edition wish to thank the companies that trusted their image: Voligoma, ProRenta AFJP, Apart Bosch, Vicente López Hotel, because thanks to them the economic weight became a little lighter.

The 4th. Small and Regular Kite Meeting ,‘THE WIND COLORS’ 2007, was a real success. Again, there were 70 persons enrolled with a kite, and the great majority were children from the Valle, demonstrating that the local population is getting hold of the ‘Kite Flying’.
