Kites In The South

Dear BaToCo Friends: Here you'll find something I wrote about the activities we carried out in Bariloche, and some recent photos with kites. I also take the opportunity to congratulate you for your plentiful achievements and projects in the late months, after so much dedication and effort. Above all, I wish to thank you for all the support and strength you give me each time I travel to Buenos Aires. It started building kites in '99. How many things have occurred since then! Workshop at Fleni

Last April 20, we had the good fortune of attending a kite building and flight workshop held at the Therapeutic Educational Center for Children and Teenagers (abbreviated CETNA in Spanish), located in Fleni Escobar facilities.

Last Saturday, February 24, Roberto and Pablo went to Pilar (Buenos Aires) to deliver a kite workshop for a group of young parents and their children

Both Roberto and Pablo wish to thank all participants for their predisposition and joyfulness, and particularly Pablo Puente, who coordinated all the activity.

Barriletes en el Aula

It's a pleasure for us to tell you that The American Kitefliers Association authorized us to translate and publish in our web site the "Barriletes en el Aula" Manual, Spanish version of the original “Kites in the Classroom”.

Thanks to AKA's kindness we can now put in the visitors' hands, online learning and consulting material, at the Books Section, where other authors have already contributed with their knowledge and experience.

A special gratitude to Sharon Musto , Region 13 International Director - AKA, who was in charge of dealing with the authorizations.

Finally, our acknowledgement to Graciela Fernández Mur, Víctor Derka, Raúl Ambrosetti y Gustavo Sonzogni who were in charge of translating and reviewing the document. We hope it to be useful for you all!

Project "Fly With Me"

During 2004, some BaToCo members had the privilege of developing Workshops for children from Special Education Schools located in Buenos Aires City, thanks to the initiative and cooperation of María Elena García Autino. Some months ago, we decided to extend the experience to the Mapuches' Communities in the Pehuenia, area, where "one feels like at home". The project is currently under execution. Gustavo, Juan and Olga met with María Elena last Friday, January 28 in the city of Aluminé, Province of Neuquén.

BaToCo in Colon

The Cultural Office from the Municipality of Colon, Province of Entre Rios, kindly invited us to conduct workshops and a kiteflying near the Uruguay River.
