Kite Building Workshop
With the purpose of including giant inflatable kites during the Rosario Festival , and, also, of inspecting the flight field with an eye to the Two-Line Sports Kite World Cup in Teams, we were pleased to have the presence of this notable 58-year man, born in the U.S.A.
Highly amusing, very professional regarding kite flight and safety issues, new KAP fan, Pete did not miss anything and enjoyed the affection demonstrated by all the Argentine kite flyers.
As a golden clasp in his trip, he delivered a workshop in Buenos Aires on appliqué, a technique mastered perfectly by him –as noticed by overall the attendants- supported by his Luna, with which he has won several prizes, apart from with other kites.
The workshop consisted in making an appliqué of a five-point star, pale blue color, on a yellow fabric, with a too tiny violet rim (3mm), to stress the contrast
One of the big tricks that Pete used was to stick the cloths with an aerosol soft contact cement, the one used to stick pictures on wood or walls, that lets you easily detach them. So, once the cloths were stuck, the sewing chore was simplified.
After finishing the sewing and cutting, it is recommended to clean the fabric with a wiper soaked up in alcohol… et voilá.
Apart from all these activities, he could visit Buenos Aires, go to a tango show, travel by catamaran along the Tigre zone -under the rain-, become acquainted with San Isidro neighborhood and make KAP in Vicente López (Great Buenos Aires) and near the flower that is close to the Faculty of Laws (Capital Federal).
It’s worth mentioning that he became a capybara hide fan, and purchased all sorts of stuff in that material.
When he was at the airport, ready to depart to his country, he looked 5 years younger than when he arrived. This meaning that he spent a great time with colleagues and friends, while he confessed that he would definitely come back to Argentina.
We look forward to meeting him again, moreover if our country becomes the 2009 World Cup site.
